
Nicaragua Caribbean Coast Delegation
This delegation will begin in the nation’s capital, Managua, in the Pacific Coast region of the country, and travel eastward by land on one of Nicaragua’s new highways that extends all the way to Bluefields on the Caribbean Sea. Along the way, the group first visit the Latin American Institute of Agroecology, a training center for students from throughout Mesoamerica and the Caribbean, led by the historic farmworker organization Asociación de Trabajadores del Campo and international peasant movement La Via Campesina. Upon entering the Southern Caribbean Coast Autonomous region, the delegation will visit with different afrodescendant and indigenous communities that are important groups in the Caribbean Coast autonomy process and Nicaraguan culture. The delegation will also witness examples of concrete gains in quality of life thanks to the processes of the Sandinista Popular Revolution in areas such as education, healthcare and women’s rights.
Upon conclusion of the delegation in Bluefields, there will be an optional add-on to the beautiful island of Corn Island in the Caribbean Sea.

When: June 17th – 27th 2023 (arrivals June 17th / departures June 27th). Optional two-day Corn Island add-on June 27th – 29th
Cost: Sliding scale, $1000-$1200 (does not include international travel costs to and from Nicaragua, nor optional Corn Island add-on). Limited scholarships available.
